GeoJSON is a geospatial data interchange format based on JSON. It can represent Point, LineString, Polygon, MultiPoint, MultiLineString, MultiPolygon, and GeometryCollection geometries. Defined by RFC 7946, GeoJSON has become one of the most popular data exchange formats in web GIS. GeoJSON files use WGS84 coordinates and support Feature objects with associated properties and FeatureCollections for organizing multiple features.
GPX (GPS Exchange Format) is an XML-based GPS data exchange format and the de facto standard for exchanging data between GPS devices and applications. GPX supports three core data types: Waypoints (single location points), Routes (ordered path point sequences), and Tracks (GPS-recorded point sequences with timestamps). GPX files can be generated by various GPS devices, sports watches, and mobile apps.
Field work still runs on Garmin and other GPS devices, and they read GPX — not GeoJSON. When your route was planned in a web map, drawn in an editor, or exported from a database, converting GeoJSON to GPX puts it on the handheld: points become waypoints you can navigate to, and lines become tracks you can follow in the field. It is the standard bridge between desktop/web planning and on-the-ground navigation.
Points become waypoints and LineStrings become tracks — the two geometry types GPX supports. Polygons are converted as their boundary track.
The feature's name property becomes the waypoint or track name shown on the device. Features without a name get an automatic numbered label.
If your GeoJSON coordinates include a third (z) value or an elevation property, it is written into the GPX elevation field.
Upload your GeoJSON file — drag and drop it onto the page, or browse from your device. You can add several files at once for batch conversion.
The conversion runs automatically in your browser. No upload, no server — your data stays on your device the entire time.
Download the GPX file. Each input produces its own output, ready to use in your GIS, web map, or archive.
