Convert between degrees and radians for use in GIS calculations
Instantly convert between angle units as you type
Radians required by trigonometric functions in code

Convert between Angle units
Type an angle and select its current unit — degrees, radians, or gradians. Negative angles and values beyond a full circle are handled fine.
The equivalent values in all three units appear instantly, using the exact factors Pi/180 and 0.9 rather than rounded shortcuts.
Copy the value in the unit your code or formula expects. Free, instant, and computed entirely in your browser.
AMultiply the degree value by Pi/180, since 180 degrees equals exactly Pi radians; one degree is about 0.017453 radians. Going the other way, multiply radians by 180/Pi, where one radian is about 57.29578 degrees.
AIn JavaScript, Python, C, and nearly every math library, sin, cos, and tan interpret their argument in radians because calculus identities come out clean in that unit. Passing 90 instead of 1.5708 to Math.sin is one of the most common GIS bugs — this converter exists to prevent exactly that.
AA gradian (gon) is one 400th of a full circle, so 100 gradians make a right angle and one gradian equals 0.9 degrees. It appears in European surveying instruments and artillery, which is why this tool includes it alongside degrees and radians.
